About Us

We are a software development company specialising in case management and learner management systems for providers of information, advice, guidance, skills and employability.

Our experience in this sector began in 1986 when we developed a case management system for Providers of the Job Training Scheme (JTS). A year later we released two further versions of the software for the Youth Training Scheme (YTS) and Employment Training Scheme (ETS)

Over the next few years we realised that the requirements for YTS and ETS were similar, so in the early 90’s we merged them into a single product, a Youth and Employment Information System and YETI was born!

YETI now provides case and learner management functionality for providers of skills, employability, advice and guidance across the UK. With multiple data entry forms in a single system, it’s an ideal tool for small providers delivering a single contract, to large providers delivering multiple complex programmes.

In the mid 90’s we were asked to develop a case management system for Careers Services, our response was a product called IO for Careers and Youth Services.  In 2000 we were involved in the development of the CCIS data schema return for the Department for Education alongside Connexions Cornwall and Devon.  IO is also used by Community Learning and Development (CLD) programmes in Scotland.

Over the years we have carved a niche in supplying systems that support people back into work in the employability sector,  or to advance their qualifications and employment within the Apprenticeship and Skills sector. Our belief is that if the system is easy to use, the rest will follow. Good quality data entry leads to more accurate Management Information and claims.

Today our Applications are used by thousands of users across the Skills sector supporting users, tutors and learners across programmes such as Apprenticeships, Traineeships AEB, ACL and across employability supporting long term unemployed back into work, through programmes such as Restart, ESF funded community programmes, local authority initiatives and the National Careers Service.

Serious About Security

CogniSoft work with very sensitive client data on behalf of our customers; from DWP Claimant data, to detailed Local Authority data on vulnerable young people. Information security is therefore a principle concern and CogniSoft’s Information Security Management processes are certified to ISO 27001:2013 standards.

Our approach to security in all of our software development and hosted delivery processes is a feature of our audit and forms a part of our ISO certification. All staff are subject to the information security management system and all our internal processes are covered, including the hosting services we would use to provide the system.
